Senior software Engineer (Linux, C++)
“A” refers to a CA Product
“A” automates the assembly, provisioning, deployment, and

management of composite applications into the cloud

environment.

The qualified Senior Software Engineer will be designing and

implementing a framework to automate the functional and

regression tests for the “A” grid operating system.　This

framework will interpret and execute well-defined test cases,

compare actual results against test oracles, and report

reliable test results.　The automated tests will verify in

parallel the functionality of AppLogic’s command-line

interpreter, Web Services API, network services, and

distributed file system.　The framework will also automate

the test cases for other “A” features and functions

including the installation, upgrade and reconfiguration of

grids.

Required Skills and Experience


•　　　　Strong scripting skills in Bash and Perl

•　　　　Strong programming skills in C, C++, or Java

(minimum 4 years’ experience)

•　　　　Rapid researching, prototyping, and debugging

skills is a must

•　　　　Linux utilities knowledge is a must; Windows

basics is a plus

•　　　　Web development experience using HTML, javascript,

PHP, AJAX, GWT, GXT is highly desirable (Liferay portals,

RoR, and Node.js is a plus)

•　　　　Basic networking knowledge is a plus (MAC and IP

addressing, DNS, DHCP, Gateway, VLAN)

•　　　　Database design and implementation experience is a

plus (MySQL, Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server, NoSQL, MongoDB)

•　　　　Prior experience or willingness to design and

implement frameworks for automated testing is a plus

•　　　　Cloud experience is a plus (“A”, Amazon EC2,

Windows Azure, Rackspace)

Job Overview
This position is responsible for creating, maintaining and

executing tests to validate that translated, and/or English,

products behave correctly on the target locale.　This

position is also responsible for ensuring that the product

quality meets corporate and industry standards, for single or

multiple product areas.
Key Responsibilities
　　Assist in definition of testing plans, policies,

criterion and flow, provide I18N/L10N knowledge support to

both internal and external group members.
　　Train colleagues, new hires and external groups on the

subject of i18n/l10n as necessary.
　　Design, develop, maintain, and execute L10N/I18N test

plans and test cases for local customizations.
　　Evaluate the quality of problems for product, verify

fixes and propose a fix to address the problems.

Additionally, write test plans to address the problems for

future release for local OS/database/3rd party software.
　　Summarize and maintain QA testing documentation for QA

processes and problems tracking.
　　Create and maintain the linguistic test data for the

given language.
　　Analyze text and generate the expected linguist

analysis based on the specification - GUI Analysis from

linguistic perspective as well as display, layout, etc
　　Evaluate linguistic coverage (GUI strings, help and

document review), report accuracy, identify linguistic bugs,

trace regression of the products and technology, test tool

development, debug through product localization code and

coordinate with other test teams.
　　Gather feedback from local office, and modify L10N/I18N

test cases based on local customers' request.
　　Give product education to external groups on localized

products as necessary.
　　Assume a QA project or team leader position within the

organization as necessary.
　　Assign tasks to QA Testers and Engineers as defined by

IPM and monitor their progress.
　　Coordinate test environment setup (but not hardware

scheduling) in accordance with the schedule given by IPM
　　Collect and consolidate the reports from each QA

Testers and Engineers into one single report for the IPM on a

regular basis.
　　Interface with IPM
　　Understand and stay up to date with corporate

standards, SDM, and PRIME.
　　May work on i18n projects for languages that may not be

within the language skill set.
　　Supervisory responsibility on a project basis as

needed.
　　Provide feedback to management on performance of the

project members.
　　Work closely with the relevant country field staff to

educate, inform and disseminate relevant product knowledge,

and solicit information on overall localized product quality

and applicable product information.

Business Travel and Physical Demands

Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in Computer Science,

Electronic Engineering, or related majors.
Work Experience
Typically 5 or more years of experience in development,

research, and/or product testing.
Skills & Competencies
　　Ability to follow and report exactly as described in

test cases/procedures.
　　Ability to produce specification for test cases and

procedures for most aspects a product.
　　At least bilingual with one of the languages being

English. Must be able to speak, write and read fluently in

both languages.
　　Strong analytical skills and excellent trouble shooting

skills.
　　Strong testing and problem solving skills, good

fundamental programming knowledge, good knowledge of

miscellaneous test methodologies, techniques and harnesses.
　　Demonstrated coding ability in C/C++, C#, Java, Perl

and/or test automation tools such as WinRunner or SilkTest is
